Maison EVIE — website hero
The Brief

Maison EVIE is a private head spa opening in Edina, Minnesota in 2027 — one guest, one therapist, one private suite. The founders were explicit: this is not beauty, not hair, not 'wellness.' It exists to give people temporary relief from modern life. The website had to sell that feeling — a year before the doors open.

The Problem

Spa websites are interchangeable: soft stock photos, a service menu, a booking widget. But Maison EVIE doesn't sell services — it sells the absence of noise. A menu-and-prices template would have flattened the entire concept. The site needed to make a visitor physically feel the decompression the spa promises.

The Approach

Not a task list.
A set of deliberate moves.

Move 01

Seven chapters instead of five pages

The site is a single descent through seven emotional rooms — Silence, The Weight We Carry, Arrival, The Sanctuary, The Ritual, Architecture & Atmosphere, Reserve Your Quiet. Each scroll takes the visitor one room deeper, mirroring the experience of walking through the spa itself. Navigation disappears; narrative takes over.

Move 02

The doorway as a design system

One motif carries the whole brand: the arch. It opens on scroll with light spilling through, frames every photograph, and shapes the reservation form. The palette never touches pure white or black — only warm plaster, limestone, champagne bronze, and dark teak. Nine photographs were given a unified golden-hour treatment so disparate images read as one world.

Move 03

Booking that feels like a letter, not a checkout

The final chapter, 'Reserve Your Quiet,' replaces the booking widget with a journal-style form — quiet fields, generous space, language that continues the ritual. Every effect respects reduced-motion preferences, because a sanctuary that gives people motion sickness has failed at its one job.
